Sunset by a tree with a rustic chair and open Bible in a field; album cover text reads SIT WITH ME and Trade Your Hurry for My Peace.

Most of my life I was taught how to work. Work harder. Work longer. Get the job done.

Those lessons served me well, but somewhere along the way I realized I'd learned how to do without ever learning how to simply be. Even in ministry, we can become so busy doing things for God that we neglect spending time with God.

Sit With Me was born from a quieter season of life when God seemed less interested in my productivity and more interested in my presence. Less concerned with what I could accomplish and more concerned with whether I would simply sit at His feet.

The Christian life isn't about striving to earn God's approval. Jesus already finished the work. The invitation now is to slow down, lay your burdens at His feet, and rest in His grace. Maybe today His message to you is simple:

"Son, slow it down and learn to be... now come and sit with Me."

"Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."- Matthew 11:28

Personal Reflection

My daddy taught me how to work. Digging holes, stringing wire as far as the eye could see. We worked hard together, but we seldom just sat and talked about life, God, or the important things. That work mentality followed me into my walk with the Lord. I caught myself doing for God instead of simply being with Him.

Then the road got quiet. All the noise fell away. And I heard God whisper, “Son, just sit with Me today.” In that stillness I began to understand what Jesus meant when He said, “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Prayer isn’t just another task on the list. It’s the place where we abide. It’s where the battle is won on bended knee. It’s where we trade our hurry for His peace.

Too many of us are moving mountains—or at least trying to—while barely moving a hill, because we’ve forgotten the power that flows from simply being with the Father. The Christian who is truly alive isn’t the busiest one. It’s the one who has learned to sit.

Theme

Sit With Me is an invitation to slow down and remember what matters most: relationship with God over religious activity. It’s a call to move from constant doing into intimate being with the Father.

This song reminds us:

  • Jesus already finished the work—we don’t have to earn His love.

  • Prayer is not a task but a relationship of abiding.

  • True strength and fruitfulness flow from time spent with God.

  • The battle is won on bended knee.

  • Come and sit with Him—He is waiting.

Scripture Foundation

  • “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

  • “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

  • “The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.” — 2 Corinthians 10:4

  • “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret.” — Matthew 6:6

Processing Questions

Take a few moments and reflect:

  1. Where in your life have you been doing for God instead of simply being with Him?

  2. What would it look like for you to slow down and sit with the Father today?

  3. Are you carrying burdens you were never meant to carry alone?

  4. How has busyness affected your prayer life and your peace?

  5. What one step can you take this week to make sitting with God a priority?

Prayer

Father, Thank You that I don’t have to earn Your love. Thank You that Jesus finished the work so I could simply come and sit with You. Forgive me for the times I’ve been so busy doing things for You that I neglected being with You.

Teach me to slow down. Teach me to be still. Create in me a heart that finds its greatest joy in Your presence. Lay my burdens at Your feet. Trade my hurry for Your peace. Let my life bear fruit that lasts because it flows from abiding in You.

Come sit with me, Lord. I’m here. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Closing

Son, slow it down and learn to be.

A man of God who sits with Me.

Lay your burdens at My feet.

Trade your hurry for My peace.

You can’t earn My loving grace.

So slow your pace—Christ won the race.

Now come… and sit with Me.
